PES: PES Families: There was miscommunication regarding bus 1602. IF 1602 picked up your child this morning, she will drop them off this afternoon.

PES: PES Families: If your child rides bus 1602, and you brought them to school this morning, you will need to pick them up at dismissal (3:00 p.m.). When a bus cannot make the run in the morning, then it does not run in the afternoon. If your child rides bus 1807, they will be arriving about 10 - 12 min. later this afternoon. They will be riding bus 1703, which will not be picking up from school until 3:22 p.m.

Putnam County Schools will be closed today, Thursday, February 6, 2025 as a result of multiple high water issues throughout Putnam County.

PCS Messages:: Putnam County Schools will be operating on a 2 hour delay, today, Thursday, February 6 due to multiple high water issues. If a closure is needed that announcement will be made around 7:30am.

PES: We kindly remind all families to adhere to the school’s illness policy to ensure the well-being of both students and staff. If your child is feeling unwell, please keep them home and consult a healthcare professional if necessary. Your cooperation helps maintain a healthy and safe environment for everyone. You can find a copy of the policy on our school website in our Parent Student Handbook and a copy was attached to a Class Dojo message this afternoon. Thank you for your support.

PES: We have already contacted those whose bus routes were affected by the weather as of 1:00 p.m. today. As it has started raining again, we urge families in flood-prone areas to please make arrangements to pick up your child by 2:55 p.m. to ensure their safety if you know it is possible for water to get over the road again. The early dismissal will be an excused early departure. Thank you for your understanding.

In order to ensure the safety of all students during PE, tennis shoes will be required moving forward. This guideline was implemented by Mrs. Whittington, and at my request, Mrs. Winter will continue to enforce this rule to help prevent injuries. Thank you for your understanding and support.

🗓 CALENDAR ADJUSTMENT FOR INCLEMENT WEATHER ❄️ The OS Day scheduled on Monday, February 17, 2025, will be converted to an instructional day for students. This will not extend the calendar for students or staff. If the school system is forced to close for a seventh or eighth day, students would report to school on Friday, February 28, and/or Monday, March 3. Any additional school closure would result in students reporting to school on any remaining OS Day on the current school calendar for June.

If the bus cannot run the route in the morning, it is likely they will not be able to run it in the afternoon.

Parent Pick-up for 3rd - 5th Grade: At the end of the day, pick-up is in the Poca Library lot, which is not cleared by PCS during inclement weather. During bad weather, if you'd like your child picked up in front of the school, please call 304-755-7561 before 2:15 p.m. tomorrow afternoon and we will hold them at the front entrance. Once buses depart, you can pick up your child at the front entrance. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

Reminder: 2-Hour Delay at PES Dear PES Families, This is a reminder that school will be operating on a 2-hour delay tomorrow. Our doors will open at 9:15 AM, and all students must be in the building by 9:45 AM. Please note the following important details for morning drop-off: Drop-off is in the driveway in front of the school, NOT in the Poca Library lot. As we saw last week, traffic during inclement weather can be challenging, so please plan accordingly to ensure your child arrives on time. Staff will be on duty and will enter the building when the bell rings at 9:45. After that, parents will need to accompany their child into the building for sign-in.
